Bureau of Investigation
The Tennessee Bureau of investigation is the state’s primary
criminal investigative agency responsible for managing the state’s
three crime labs. The TBI investigates crimes related to illegal
drugs, fugitives, public corruption, official misconduct, organized
crime, domestic terrorism, Medicaid fraud, patient abuse, as well as
investigative support to local law enforcement upon request.
Federal
Bureau of Investigation
The FBI’s mission is “to protect and defend the United States
against terrorist and foreign intelligence threats and to enforce
the criminal laws of the United States.” They currently have
jurisdiction over violations of more than 200 categories of federal
law.
Tennessee Office of Inspector General
The mission of the Tennessee Office of Inspector
General is to identify, investigate, and prosecute persons who
commit fraud against TennCare.
Drug
Enforcement Administration
The DEA enforces the controlled substances laws and regulations of
the United States and brings to the criminal justice system
individuals and members of organizations who are involved in the
illegal manufacture or distribution of controlled substances.
DEA Office of
Diversion Control
The mission of DEA's Office of Diversion Control is to prevent,
detect, and investigate the diversion of controlled pharmaceuticals
and listed chemicals from legitimate sources while ensuring an
adequate and uninterrupted supply for legitimate medical,
commercial, and scientific needs.
U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General
The U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services Office Inspector General is
charged with preventing and combating waste, fraud, and abuse of
departmental programs, most notably Medicare and Medicaid.
Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police
The TACP works to foster police cooperation and the exchange of
information and experience among police administrators, and to
encourage adherence of all police officers to high professional
standards of performance and conduct.

Tennessee Board of Pharmacy
The
Tennessee Board of Pharmacy licenses and registers Pharmacists,
Pharmacies, Pharmacy Technicians,
Manufacturers/Wholesale/Distributors, Researchers and Medical
Service Representatives. The Board also enacts rules addressing
professional conduct and standards of practice. Their mission is to
ensure that the pharmacists of Tennessee are providing competent
pharmaceutical care in accordance with state and federal laws.

FDA is responsible for protecting the public health by assuring the
safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs,
biological products, medical devices, our nation’s food supply,

The University of Tennessee Medical Center works
closely and collaboratively with law enforcement to help prevent,
identify and appropriately report drug diversion.

University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy
Part of the Mission of the UT College of Pharmacy
is to serve as an outreach resource on the developments, policies
and practices related to the safe, effective and cost-efficient use
of medications for the benefit of the citizens, health care
professionals, and policy-makers of Tennessee and beyond.
